During our Costa Rica trip, I was kindly invited to stay at the luxurious cliffside Casa Chameleon. Standing guard over the beautiful town of Las Catalinas, it’s the perfect spot for a secluded jungle/beach getaway in the northwest corner of Costa Rica. Casa Chameleon has won many different awards with good reason. Their awards include but are not limited to winning the #2 spot to stay in all of Central America, by Travel + Leisure, they won awards by Forbes magazine and they were named one of the World’s top 100 hotels for the second year in a row. I mean, can we say impressive, or what?
Contemporary and Refined
Casa Chameleon is an adults-only boutique resort that features 21 private villas that all include their very own private plunge infinity pool with a backdrop waterfall. Every angle of the property offers mesmerizing panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Costa Rican jungle with beautiful open-air spaces all around. It definitely surpassed all our expectations and made for four incredibly enjoyable, lush, days to remember. Each villa features a beautiful fancy boho décor, luxury amenities, a king size canopy bed, an open-air shower, a big private deck with a daybed outside and complimentary yoga equipment. It really felt like our own little secluded paradise in Costa Rica. Outside your villa at the main lobby, there is a stunning zero edge wrap around infinity pool . Everyday from the pool, we spotted monkeys hanging out in their natural habitat in the trees. Our stay included lots of time lounging and gazing out.
Sentido Norte
On site, they have a lovely restaurant named Sentido Norte featuring seven amazing chefs that all bring to the table unique expertise to be make it an unmissable culinary experience. Their restaurant is also very well known and popular with the locals. Their flavors shine with tons of great food options for every pallet. I recommend making a point to go to the bar area before you make your way to the restaurant for diner. If you make it 30 minutes prior to sunset, you can enjoy a stunning sunset view and enjoy the gong celebration and torch lighting ceremony that takes place each evening.
On our last day, we had the opportunity to enjoy an authentic 5 course meal (Costa Rican Style BBQ) prepared by their Chef. The BBQ was hosted in a private location used for this type of event. It was my favorite culinary experience in Costa Rica and it made for a perfect night.

Things to do
Mindfulness and relaxation: They offer great spa services to be delivered to your villa. You can enjoy a relaxing massage and facial in the privacy of your villa.
Yoga and fitness: Each villa includes a yoga to be enjoyed on your balcony. In addition, Casa Chameleon also offers group classes with 360-degree views of the Pacific Ocean during weekly yoga sessions. While we were there, they offered daily morning yoga sessions.
Hiking: You can hike through the Costa Rican jungle in the surrounding acres of Las Catalinas. It’s very common to spot Monkeys during your hike as they are known to hangout in the trees.
Tours: You can arrange to have a canopy tour and a sunset catamaran cruise with the concierge.

Discover the town of Las Catalinas

Las Catalinas is a recently developed young small town along the shores of the Pacific Ocean in the Guanacaste Province of northwest Costa Rica. It resembles a beautiful story book town and is known amongst locals as a crown jewel. Casa Chameleon is located a short walk away from Las Catalinas. However, since the hotel is perched high up on the hilltop, its too steep to walk. Not to worry, Casa Chameleon offers a free private shuttle that will bring you down in an instant and pick you up whenever you want! You can enjoy an afternoon walking around the walkable town of Las Catalinas, doing activities, and enjoy the pretty swimmable beaches. If you love a walkable town full of character, you will love Las Catalinas.
Understated luxury and undisturbed privacy
We absolutely loved our stay and can’t wait to be back! We loved their attention to detail, professionalism, and friendliness. Casa Chameleon also has a second location in Costa Rica named Casa Chameleon in Mal Pais that is highly reviewed and seems equally stunning. If you want a private luxury vacation, look no further, Casa Chameleon is for you. Want to see more? Check out my Instagram story highlights for Casa Chameleon.
Thank you for the post. Planned a trip for early April , first to Costa Rica and the hotel. I assume your five course meal was part of the Food and Wine package that intrigued us including Chefs Table meal and cooking class.
